About the Author
Rayvene Whatley, LPC
Rayvéne Whatley is a therapist, speaker, and EMDR practitioner dedicated to helping Black professionals untangle the stress of success, relationships, and identity—without judgment or the pressure to have it all figured out. As the founder of Simplicity Psychotherapy, she’s spent years helping clients navigate anxiety, perfectionism, and the weight of unspoken emotions.
She created Shades of Emotion after noticing a need for more descriptive emotional connections, especially in communities where vulnerability isn’t always welcomed. Too often, we’re told to “push through” our feelings, to be strong, to keep going—even when we’re overwhelmed or unsure how we really feel. This book is a response to that—a space where emotions aren’t judged or dismissed but explored through creativity, culture, and self-expression. It’s not just about coloring—it’s about giving yourself permission to feel, process, and embrace every shade of who you are.
Feel Without the Guilt. Express Without the Pressure.
Black women are expected to be strong, but what about the emotions we silence? Shades of Emotion helps you name, understand, and embrace your full emotional range. Through relatable insights and guided prompts, this book helps you honor your needs and redefine strength—on your terms.
This 48-page adult coloring book blends culturally resonant illustrations with relatable, everyday language that helps you name and understand your emotions in a way that feels natural. Whether you’re carrying stress, reclaiming your joy, or just trying to make sense of it all, each page invites you to reflect, create, and reconnect with yourself—on your own terms.
Strength Includes Feeling. Expression is Power.
Black men are told to stay strong and push through, but real strength includes knowing what you feel. Shades of Emotion unpacks emotions like pride, hurt, and hesitation with honest reflections and practical prompts. It’s a judgment-free space to process, heal, and grow—on your terms.
This 48-page adult coloring book features powerful illustrations and culturally relevant descriptions that speak to the emotional experiences Black men face every day. Whether you’re dealing with frustration, confidence, hesitation, or peace, each page helps you explore your emotions without judgment—because every feeling deserves to be seen.
